Partner Evaluation & Procurement

The Challenges - Partner Selection

Many major projects require close collaboration between client and their industry partner. 70% of partnerships or forms of collaboration go onto experience problems which damage project delivery. This is frequently due to inattention in selection processes to the intangible, yet critical, ‘human factors’ and/or not giving these sufficient attention to them after contract award.

‘Despite this each year, hundreds of contracts are let which do not effectively evaluate these factors during procurement or plan for their resolution and/or development post contract award’. Chief Procurement Officer – Agenda Journal Spring 2009. Read more...

Many important factors are too intangible to evaluate successfully before contract award such as – ‘can we work with these people’, ‘how aligned is this consortium really’, ‘how effective are they as a team’, ‘will their culture fit with and add value to ours’ and ‘how will they behave when in a tight spot’, ‘can we trust them’?

The B2B approach to assessment and evaluation of these factors – the Soft Issues Assessment Centre (SIAC) has been delivered by our team in over 50 assessments in OJEU public procurements over the last 10 years. B2B team members pioneered the approach with the UK Ministry of Defence and have designed and delivered more assessments of this kind than any other team in the UK. We have delivered them in the highest valued and highest profile contracts in the UK.

B2B provides support services which address these procurement challenges by:

Identifying how potential partners will perform and work together before the contract is signed! identifying people-related risks and their potential mitigation

Using evaluation data to inform bidder plans to improve their performance or accelerate effective partnering, collaboration post award.

B2B are the only team able to provide this track record and through a Government Procurement Service Contact for Procurement.

‘Clients have got a new way of testing the mettle of a bid team- by simulating a project that’s going up in smoke and down in flames’. Read more...
